A Little Bit O’Green!

Next month is St. Patty’s day and so we are going to be celebrating a bit O’ GREEN!!!  Playing with USAQ products and the color green is just too much fun.

USAQ Greens 1

The picture above, represents my expression of green.  I utilized my stash of wonderful materials to create this piece.

USAQ Supplies:

D’Lights

Styline Stickers

Mica Flakes  Also smaller sets

Cut*Bond*Create

Prills

Mica Rings

Mica Powder Pigments

MicaColor Pallettes

Perfect Pigment

PPA Adhesive Matte

Great Tape

Duo Adhesive

Little Dippers

Perfect Brushes

The paper where the leaves are, photographed more blue, they are more green than blue.  More like a green shade of turquoise.

I decided to not do a monochromatic theme, meaning that I use all shades of green only.  I wanted a few contrasting colors, but mostly green.

Green Dots on Circle:  Squirt out some Duo on scrap plastic.  With the fine, pointed perfect brush, pick up a small amount of Duo and add “dots” of adhesive where the tiny flowers centers are.  There aren’t many, but adds a nice contrast when finished.  Let dry.  Brush Mica Powder Pigments on top and then brush the whole paper to remove any excess powder.  The mica powder will stick to the dried Duo. NOTE:  Duo is white as you apply it, and dries clear.

Mica Rings:  Cut a Mica Ring in half, then split each half using your finger nail.  Even if you do not have long finger nails, this can be accomplished (I have short finger nails, ha ha).  We are going to do a “mono sandwich!”  On the bottom half of each ring add 2 colors of Perfect Pigment (in this case the green pearl and bronze, with more green).  Put the other part of the ring on top and slightly “squish” the colors together.  If some paint comes out of the sandwich, wipe clean.  Let dry.  Adhere to project using Great Tape.

Mica Flakes:  Because I ran out of the green hued Mica Flakes, I put clear down and then painted them!!!  Apply PPA Matte in a meandering line and sprinkle Mica Flakes on the PPA.  When dry, brush off excess flakes (back in the jar), and then paint the flakes with with MicaColor Watercolors.  Oooooo, shimmer on shimmer.  pretty!

Leaves with Styline Stickers and Prills:  Pull back a bit of Cut*Bond*Create and place the two leaves on the exposed sticky area.  Press in place.  Cut out the leaves.  In the circle of the leaves, add PPA, then the Prills to fill the circle.  Let Dry.  Add D’Lights with a Little Dipper and then pour the excess D’Lights off and back into the bottle.

Yummy D'Lights. So fine, feels like powder!

To complete the composition, follow  the first photo, and place items where it is shown using Great Tape or PPA.  A small jewel was put in the center of the circles, and a rub on with the word “Congrats” added as well.

Many ideas to be used together or separately – creative techniques that can be used over and over again!  Once you stock up your studio with USAQ products there is no end to the *magic* you can create.
